Rich Berkheimer, the owner of Rockin Out DJ Service, has always had a passion for music. One of his first gifts when he was 2 years old was a toy record player. He may not have known much about music, or good music, being that the Happy Days TV Show Soundtrack was his first album, but he quickly learned what good music was and what people liked to dance to.
In high school Rich played trombone in the high school band and was involved in every extracurricular band pursuit he could fit into his schedule.
After dropping out of college Rich once again turned back to music. He worked part-time on several area radio stations; however he always found his sense of humor and renegade spirit got in the way of everyone wanting him to obey the rules at all costs, even at the cost of having fun. So Rich turned to mobile Djing in 2003 and worked part-time as a news cameraperson at WGAL-TV.
Rich learned everything he could about the mobile DJ business; how to do things the right way every time and have fun too.
Rich began Rockin Out DJ Service in York in 2008, with $70 cash. He got the name from his now deceased brother, who, at Christmas remarked to their Mom, while Rich had his headphones on, “Ma, ma, look at Rich over there. He’s Rockin Out”.
Rich has always vowed for this to be a business that would honor God in all ways and would never go into debt. He’s stayed true to his principles these many years.
WeddingWire awarded Rockin Out DJ Service in 2010, just his second full year in business with a Couple’s Choice and Best DJ Award, then in 2012 Rich expanded his business, now averaging 20 plus weddings and events per year, with a photo booth service and a wedding photography package as well. Rich has since moved the operation to Lititz, PA and hopes to expand to reach King of Prussia and West Chester.
Rich found the 2nd love of his life besides music in 2014, Jessica, who helps Rich on the customer service end of things, and gets him his waters at the end of the night. He married his spectacularly lovely wife in October of 2015. Who says ya can’t find love after 30? They enjoy her kids, Winnie and LJ, The Office, the Orioles when they win, and going to Grasonville MD, and Belize, whenever the mood (and the money) strikes them.
